Care & Maintenance

This Care & Maintenance Guide describes how Conba, which operates under GRC Australia Pty Ltd (the “Site”, “we”, “our” and /or “us”) requires you to care for and maintain the product that you have purchased from us directly and indirectly.

Proper care and maintenance are essential for ensuring the longevity, beauty, and performance of your concrete products. This Care & Maintenance Guide provides you with valuable information and guidelines to help you maintain the quality and appearance of your concrete items. By following these instructions, you can protect your investment and enjoy the durability and unique aesthetic of our concrete products for years to come.

GENERAL CARE GUIDELINES

  • Avoid placing excessive weight or pressure on the concrete surfaces.
  • Clean up spills promptly to avoid potential staining or etching.
  • Immediately drain your product of all water after use; do not let water pool and sit on surfaces for extended periods.
  • Do not leave damp or wet items directly on your concrete product for prolonged periods.
  • Use coasters, trivets, or placemats under hot cookware, dishes, or cups to prevent thermal shock.
  • Use cutting boards and avoid directly cutting or chopping on the concrete surfaces to prevent scratches.
  • When using soap and bath bombs, fill the product to half its volume before adding them to the water. Avoid using dark or bright-coloured bath bombs or liquids on light-coloured products.

DAILY CLEANING

  • Wipe the surface regularly with a soft, damp microfibre cloth or sponge to remove dust, dirt, debris, and residue soap and water.
  • Use a mild, pH-neutral soap detergent or concrete cleaner diluted with water for regular cleaning.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, acidic or alkaline substances, bleach, ammonia, harsh chemicals, degreaser, or glass cleaners as they may damage the protective sealer and concrete surface.
  • Do not use any type of bathroom, tile, or grout cleaning products.

STAIN PREVENTION

  • Immediately clean up spills of acidic substances (such as lemon juice, vinegar, wine, coffee, or tomato-based products) or oils to prevent potential etching or staining.
  • Use cutting boards to avoid direct contact with food items that may stain the surface.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with certain materials like rubber, ink, dyes, and strong pigments, as they may cause discolouration.
  • For deep stains use bi-carb soda and water to aid in removal within the first hour of exposure.
  • For dried spills, a wet microfibre cloth with soapy water or a non-abrasive cleanser is recommended (do not use cleaners and substances mentioned throughout).

SEALANT CARE

  • Our concrete products are treated with a protective sealer to enhance their durability and stain resistance.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, scrub brushes, or scouring pads that can damage the sealer.
  • Reapply our recommended concrete sealer periodically, as instructed by the manufacturer, to maintain the protective layer. Contact us for more detail.
  • Avoid subjecting the concrete to excessive direct heat, including both artificial and natural sources such as direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure can cause gradual discolouration of the concrete and reduce the effectiveness of the sealer.

PREVENTING DAMAGE

  • Avoid dropping solid, heavy, or sharp objects on concrete surfaces, as they may cause chips, cracks, or damage.
  • Do not stand or sit on unsupported overhangs or delicate edges.
  • Protect the surface from impact damage by using padding or mats under heavy appliances or objects.

ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE

  • For concrete sinks, rinse the basin thoroughly after each use to prevent soap residue buildup.
  • Do not leave standing water on the surface (Such as water droplets) for extended periods, as it may affect the sealer or cause discolouration.
  • For outdoor concrete products, regularly remove dirt, leaves, and debris using a soft broom or a gentle stream of water.

While our concrete products are designed to be durable, they may develop a natural patina, colour variation, and surface imperfections over time, which add character and uniqueness to the items. These changes do not affect the structural integrity of the product.
